Post-factory buildings surrounded by the green scenery of parks – these images begin the film spot promoting the European Universities Games 2022 in Łódź. A few moments later, viewers can hear the characteristic, velvety voice known from nature films. It belongs to Krystyna Czubówna.
If someone think that this is the end of surprises in this video, EUGenio – the mascot of the Games, shows that he was wrong. Our unicorn takes a selfie with Miss World 2021 Karolina Bielawska. After that it walks around the city of Łódź, and meets Marcin Gortat, the one and only Polish NBA finalist. EUGenio also has a training with Kajetan Duszyński, Olympic champion from Tokyo in the 4×400 m mixed relay race. After exhausting practice with sports stars, Rafał Pacześ, a popular stand-uper, sprinkles the unicorn with water.
– In the spot we wanted to reflect the character of Łódź and also show students from abroad what this city is famous for, i.e. the post-industrial design. Karolina Bielawska, the most beautiful woman in the world, is a student of our university, and Kajetan Duszyński is doing a doctorate at the Lodz University of Technology, which is the main organizer of EUG 2022. Marcin Gortat is the ambassador of the Games. These people are known not only in Łódź but also in Poland, so the film could not miss them. The voice of Krystyna Czubówna is known to everyone in our country. I think that everything turned out to be an interesting, logical whole – convinces Dawid Ciżewski from the Sports Department of the Lodz University of Technology.
The Unicorn ends its journey to the place where the 2022 European Universities Games will start – Atlas Arena in Łódź where on July 17th the Opening Ceremony will take place. Thousands of athletes will march in front of the stands with the applause of their countries and universities.
After the opening of the EUG 2022, Łódź will become the European center of academic sports. For two weeks, around 5,000 athletes from all over Europe will compete in 20 disciplines. The Lodz University of Technology enrolled students in 12 competitions at the EUG 2022. The hosts of the games will compete for medals in karate, water polo, swimming, sport climbing, basketball and volleyball.
