Rules

Sport climbing is a type of rock climbing. Competitions are usually held in closed sports facilities, on specially prepared artificial walls. A distinction is often made between individual competitions such as bouldering, leading, speed climbing and combined climbing. It was the “combined” climbing that debuted as an Olympic discipline at the Tokyo Games.

History

The first world championship in sport climbing was organised in 1991 in Frankfurt. Since then it has been held every two years. In 2007 the International Federation of Sport Climbing was established.
