Karate blows can be performed with the hand, foot, knee, but also with other parts of the body. The three basic types: classical (Okinawan) karate, which is not for sporting but is more perceived as “a fight to the death”; sports karate and karate close to taijiquan – a philosophical path of development.

History

Karate probably comes from the Japanese martial art similar to boxing – kempo. The word karate can be translated as “empty hand”. Karate was born in Okinawa – the largest island of the archipelago, belonging to Japan.
