Rules

The match is played on the court measuring 15×11 meters. It is actually half of a conventional basketball court. Teams either defend or attack – on one half, with one basket. Matches last 10 minutes, and each team has a 12-second time limit to shoot at the opponent’s basket. The team that scores 21 points before 10 minutes have elapsed is the winner.

History

3×3 basketball is a “less formal” form of traditional basketball. Initially it was played on the streets or at gyms around the world. The sport began to be standardised in the late 1980s in the USA. Since 2007, FIBA has organised World Championships, European Championships and the World Tour in 3×3 basketball. As of 2020, 3×3 basketball is an Olympic discipline.
