On November 12-13, in the building of the University of Warsaw, the first meeting of the newly elected EUSA Executive Committee took place. The host of the meeting was the University Sports Association in cooperation with the University of Warsaw. The event was held under the patronage of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). During the session, preparations for the European Universities Games 2022 were discussed.

The EUSA Executive Committee was welcomed by the hosts of the event – University Sports Association representatives –

Mr Dariusz Piekut and  Mr Marian Dymalski. In their speech, they presented a comprehensive overview of the organization’s activities and plans for the future. The main part of the meeting was chaired by the President of EUSA – Adam Roczek. During the meeting, the main report of the office was presented, as well as the financial report, the authors of which were, in turn, Matjaž Pečovnik and Francis Cirianni.

Then, the calendar of sporting events for 2022-2024 was thoroughly discussed, focusing mainly on the European Universities Games, which will take place in July 2022 in Lodz. The delegation of the Organizing Committee of EUG2022 presented a detailed report on the preparations for the event. The EUG2022 team is constantly being expanded, and a recruitment for volunteering began last week. Attention was drawn to an extensive campaign, which is to encourage a large group of participants willing to support this unique project. The largest academic sports event in Europe is prepared thanks to the cooperation of all universities in Łódź. Athletes can register for the event from December 15!

Thanks to the meeting, the unique agreement was signed by the EUSA, the Lodz University of Technology and the University Sports Association. These entities will cooperate with the Polish Tourism Organization to promote Polish tourism during EUG2022.

Members of the EUSA Executive Committee also discussed projects that are important to the organization and co-financed by FISU and the European Union. EUSA is a proud partner in many projects that focus on equal opportunities in sport, mobility in sport, development of sport skills and sustainability.

Internal issues were also discussed. Applications submitted by university sports associations to the EUSA Commission were presented too. The next meeting of the Executive Committee will be held on December 20, 2021.
