She is the first Polish woman to date to stand on the world championship podium in Olympic karate. Had she not practiced karate, she would have trained judo, just like her dad. Dorota Banaszczyk perfectly combined sport success with education. She is a recent graduate of biochemical engineering at Lodz University of Technology. She is proud of her role as an Ambassador of EUG Lodz 2022.
He started his adventure with sport by running in the park. Later he trained at a sports gymnasium in Siemianowice Śląskie. He transferred to Lodz University of Technology from the Silesian University of Technology. In Lodz, in the colours of AZS he started to win his first medals. Kajetan Duszyński is a PhD student at Lodz University of Technology.
Adam Kszczot is a multiple medallist at the European Championships, the European Indoor Championships, the World Championships, and the World Indoor Championships in the 800m run. Originally from Opoczno, the athlete made his debut at an international event in 2007 by winning a bronze medal at the European junior championships. Only at the senior Polish championships in athletics in the 800 metres run he has won as many as 11 gold medals in total.
Artur Partyka is one of the most successful athletes of the 1990s. In the years 1992-1998 he stood on the podium of all international championships. He is one of the most popular Polish athletes of the last decade of the 20th century. Eight times (1991-1998) he was listed in the top ten of the Track and Field News world ranking.
ŁKS Commercecon Lodz is one of the oldest volleyball clubs in Poland. The team plays successfully in the TAURON League. Many representatives of the national team are among its members.
In early 2022, Kamil Majchrzak moved up 16 places in the world tennis ranking after reaching the semi-finals of the ATP hard-court tournament in Pune and is currently ranked 79th – highest in his career.
PGE SKRA Bełchatów has been playing in the top division continuously for over twenty years. The team is a nine-time Polish champion (Plusliga record), seven-time Polish Cup winner, Champions League finalist and two-time club vice-champion. It is one of the most successful Polish teams of the 21st century. For years, the Bełchatów team has included and continues to include volleyball players who represent Poland in the national team.
At first he practiced football and athletics. In 2000 he became the champion of Lodz in high jump, and in 2001 with a football team ŁKS Lodz he won the championship of the Lodz region. He started his basketball career at the age of 18.
Marcin Gortat’s career has led him through games with Polish national team and Euroleague to NBA courts, where he made his debut in 2008 with Orlando Magic. At the end of the same year, as the first Polish player in history, he started a game in the first five of NBA teams. At that time Orlando won with Utah Jazz 103:94.
Euzebiusz Smolarek is a son of Włodzimierz Smolarek – double Polish champion and Polish Cup winner. During his career he played in such clubs as Feyenoord, Borussia Dortmund and Racing Santander and also Polonia Warszawa and Jagiellonia Białystok in Poland. For Polish national team he scored 19 goals in 47 matches, including some decisive in FIFA World Cup 2006 Qualifiers and UEFA EURO 2008 Qualifiers. Since 2019 he has been the president of the Polish Footballers Association – an organization that protects the rights and employee interests of players in Poland.
